For over 20 years, Everblue Massawippi has participated in scientific research that can identify problems and provide solutions.
Specifically, What Do We Do?
SAMPLING OF RIVERS AND STREAMS:
In collaboration with the Memphremagog MRC, we take samples in the Tomifobia River several times a summer, and alternately monitor numerous other important streams: Pont-Couvert, Brown’s Hill, Servites, Brook, Walker, Webster, Mc Connell, and Abbott. The analyses allow us to assess our progress, keep an eye on sensitive areas and determine actions to take. (2013 results are available).
In 2014 Everblue Massawippi is sampling the Pont-Couvert, Brown’s Hill and Abbott Creek streams, in addition to the Tomifobia River.
In collaboration with the Coaticook MRC, we are sampling the Tomifobia River and the Niger, the main tributary of the Tomifobia. (2013 results available).
In collaboration with the IRDA (Institut de recherche et développement en agriculture), we sample Brook Stream three times after every rain as part of a special project.
SAMPLING OF THE LAKE
In collaboration with the University of Sherbrooke, starting in 2014 and continuing for three years we are sampling the shoreline along the Tomifobia and the lake as part of a study on blue-green algae.
In collaboration with the RSVL (Réseau de surveillance volontaire des lacs) we sample and take transparency tests at five points on the lake (see map).
Together with COGESAF we monitor, analyze and report blue-green algae blooms (Sentinel Project) (results available).
Several more study and analysis results from previous years are also available in the Sampling section of the Library of Knowledge.
