For more than 25 years, Everblue Massawippi has been involved in scientific expertise a various levels to identify problems and provide solutions.
For the 2017 season, Karen Bédard-Lothrop, Master of Science Bioresource Engineering, Integrated Water Resources Management, in progress at McGill University, is responsible of all water sampling and data collection assistant on the lake as part of the Intelligent Boating project
Concretely, what are we doing?
SAMPLING OF RIVERS AND STREAMS :
In collaboration with the MRC Memphrémagog we take samples in the Tomifobia River, several times a summer and alternatively monitor many important streams.
In collaboration with the MRC of Coaticook, we sample the Tomifobia River and the Niger River, the main tributary of the Tomifobia.
SAMPLING AND MONITORING ON THE LAKE
In collaboration with University of Sherbrooke, form 2014 and for 3 years, we sample the outskirts of the Tomifobia as well as the lake as part of a study on blue algae.
In collaboration with the VLMN (Voluntary Lakes Monitoring Network) we proceed to sample and do transparency tests on 5 points of the lake (See map)
In collaboration with COGESAF, we oversee, analyze and publish blue-green algae outbreaks (Sentinel project)
Several other studies and analysis results from previous years are also available in the Sampling section of the Knowledge library.
